Cycling has brought me to some amazing places, from adventures with friends, to freedom and discipline – a wholly true oxymoron. From the gutters of Belgium to sweeping Pyrenean climbs and brutal Basque bergs. It all started from my deep desire to be able to travel under my own steam - free of any restraints - and explore the world around me.
I am currently studying Graphic Communication Design at Central Saint Martins in London, and have just completed a Diploma in Creative Computing. Many of my projects use technology, through physical and digital interactions, to increase agency and accessibility. I strongly believe that it’s important not just to make tech for people, but to create tools which put ownership back in the hands of the intended audience for them to craft it themselves.
This has led me to define my practice as, Cyclist, Programmer, and Designer. Cyclist first as the primary lens through which I view the world - and through which every idea is filtered. Programmer second, and crucially the central function, as a primary method of translation between my identity as cyclist and designer. Designer last, reflecting the output as designed in order to reach the target audience in a way which communicates the intended meaning.
“As part of the revamp of our website we were looking to refresh our range of isometric 3D representations of our underfloor heating floor constructions. As well as updating and refreshing our existing images, we also required a range of images that illustrated new products.
Although having no experience of our products and marketplace Ashley understood our requirements early on and used actual product samples to create realistic renders. Willing to make minor adjustments where necessary the end result was a new, vibrant range of 3D images that can be used across our website and technical datasheets. With his professional approach and fast turn-around times we would certainly recommend his services to other clients.”
